Creating a little home away from home for you and your elementary students can be a lot of fun. But it can also lead to overthinking and comparing. In this episode of The Teacher Time Podcast, I’m sharing a few reminders for you as you set up your classroom for a new school year.

While it can feel like everything needs to be perfectly placed and beautifully decorated, those aren’t the most important things. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good classroom theme as much as the next teacher … it definitely gets my teacher heart all giddy.

But sometimes we get so stuck on the decor side, we forget that the most important thing is to make your classroom purposeful for your students. So what I’m saying here is it can definitely have a fun theme AND be purposeful… but that we shouldn’t aim for “Pinterest perfect.”
